How ChatGPTImageEditor.com handles the prompts and images you send it, and the small amount of data the site keeps to work.

Last updated: 2026-11-03

ChatGPTImageEditor.com (chatgptimageeditor.com) edits the images you upload, or creates new ones from a text description, using AI image models. This policy explains what information passes through the site, what it is used for, which outside services see it and when it goes away. "We", "us" and "our" mean the independent team behind chatgptimageeditor.com.

The short version

  • Your prompt and images are used only to produce the picture you asked for. We don't sell them, post them anywhere or use them to train AI models.
  • Uploaded images stay in our storage only as long as the service needs them, and we remove yours on request.
  • To share out free images fairly we store a salted, one-way hash of your IP address and a device identifier, never the IP address itself.
  • There is no sign-up. We only see an email address if you choose to join the waitlist for a tool that isn't live yet.

Information you send us

Prompts and images. The text you type to describe an edit or a new picture, and any image you upload as a starting point or reference, after your browser has scaled and compressed it. Together with these we receive the options you selected, such as aspect ratio or style.

Waitlist sign-ups. A few tools on the site are not running yet. When you try one, a form offers to let you know once it works. If you submit it, we keep your email address, the page and option involved, your answer to " What will you make with it?", and a salted one-way hash of your IP address so we can filter out bots. The address is used for that single notice only: it isn't verified, put on a mailing list or passed to anyone.

Emails. When you write to us, we keep the thread so we can answer you.

Information the site collects on its own

  • Free allowance counter. A salted hash of your IP address, an identifier your browser derives from its settings, and how many free images you have used. The identifier is also kept in your browser's local storage.
  • Generation history. Which tool and options ran, when, whether the job succeeded, and links to any uploaded image and to the result.
  • Server logs. As with any website, our host handles your IP address, browser type and the URLs you request in order to serve pages and fend off attacks.
  • Traffic statistics. Visits are counted with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing that identifies you. We only see totals such as page views, countries and referrers.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set cookies for visitors. Local storage in your browser holds the device identifier described above and whether you prefer the light or dark theme; clearing the site's data removes both.

Services that process data for us

The site relies on a handful of outside providers. Each one gets only what its task requires:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the site and stores uploaded images; like any web host it sees your IP address when you connect.
  • AI image model providers (the GPT Image models run through our AI gateway) — receive your prompt and any reference images, run the model that creates your image, and keep the result for a limited time so it can be downloaded.
  • Plausible Analytics — counts visits without cookies and without identifying anyone.

We may also disclose information where the law obliges us to, or where it is needed to prevent fraud or protect someone's safety. We never sell personal information or share it for advertising.

Retention

  • Uploaded images: held in our storage only for running the service; ask us and we delete yours.
  • Generated images: held by the AI provider that produced them for a limited period so you can download them, then deleted. Download anything you want to keep.
  • Free allowance records: for as long as the site offers free images; they never include a raw IP address.
  • Waitlist sign-ups: until we have sent the notice for that tool, or until you ask us to delete yours, whichever happens first.

Your rights

Email us and we will tell you what we hold about you, send you a copy, fix it or erase it, uploaded images included. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for instance the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, such as complaining to your local data protection authority.

Children

ChatGPTImageEditor.com is not intended for anyone under 18, and images of people under 18 must not be uploaded. If we find that we hold one, we delete it.

Younger users shouldn't join the waitlist either; if we find that a child has, we delete the sign-up.

Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Every upload is checked to be a genuine image before it is saved, and each file lives at a long random address that isn't published anywhere. Anyone holding that address can open the file, so don't share result links you want kept private.

International processing

Our host and AI providers operate servers in several countries, so your information may be processed outside your own country.

Updates to this policy

Whenever this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If an update changes how your images are used, we will announce it on the site before it applies.
